Eastchester, New York
Despite its name, the town of Eastchester is located in southern Westchester, almost dead-center between the west coast facing the Hudson River and the east coast facing the Long Island Sound. Eastchester was a farming community and mostly neutral territory during the American Revolution, and while the town has grown significantly since then, it still has lots of open space and parks. The town was even referred to as the ‘Cradle of American Golf’ in the 1920s, with multiple residents winning golfing awards from around the world.
While it can be a very quiet and quaint place to live, Eastchester is also home to plenty of small and large businesses and has a strong local economy. Tuckahoe, one of the towns two villages, has been a large producer of marble since the early 19th century, and was once called the ‘Marble Capital of the World’.
